CCHE produced Community Health Needs Assessment reports for Kaiser Permanente’s 42 service areas

Key highlights:
- Reports include insights from quantitative and qualitative data, including 400+ interviews with community-level experts as well as focus groups
- CCHE developed and used a systematic prioritization rubric to elevate the most pressing needs in each community
- Descriptions of prioritized health needs are supported by data and maps from the publicly available Kaiser Permanente Community Health data platform
- Reports ensure all relevant Kaiser Permanente facilities comply with all IRS requirements for CHNAs
- All reports meet ADA accessibility standards
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) requires nonprofit hospitals to conduct CHNAs and file Implementation Strategy plans with the IRS for each licensed hospital facility every three years. CCHE’s approach to CHNA is based on lessons learned from leading the CHNA process for Kaiser Permanente nationally for two cycles, and leading CHNAs for Group Health Cooperative, Virginia Mason Medical Center, and participating in the CHNA process with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and King County Hospitals for a Healthier Community. One of CCHE’s core capabilities is partnering with communities and organizations on tailored assessments of community strengths and needs and organizational capacity.
What's next:
CCHE is taking lessons learned from this most recent CHNA process and working with Kaiser Permanente to plan for the 2028 cycle.
